Professional photographs can be expensive so why not take them yourself? Here are some clever tips to ensure you get that perfect photo.
Go outside
Take your pictures in your garden, the grounds of a local hotel or in a park.
- Try to remember not to have distracting features in the background. If this does happen, dont worry we can digitally fix them for you.
- Dont take the pictures in direct sunlight, as this may cause them to look washed out.
Family photos
We know that you are going to be very busy during the day, so:
- Have the family photos taken before you leave, or
- Nominate someone to help you during the day.
- Try not have the photos too posed, make them laugh, the more natural they are the better.
At the Church
Try to get natural photos during the ceremony, but dont use a flash! Here are some ideas:
- Your child looking heavenward or holding a candle (these look especially stunning in black & white.
- At the communion. confirmation rail / kneeling and her hands clasped in prayerful acceptance – side view shot is best.
- Your child holding a Bible, with rosary beads arranged on the pages.
- If there is a statue take one with your child looking up (as if to heaven) with her hands joined – side view shot is best.

This is a wonderful way to present your child’s special photo to friends and family – yes they all do want a copy!

- €5/€8 per photo print and €2.5/€3 for the strut mount – 8″x 6″/10 x 8″ – discount for multiple prints.

The contrast with the boys in dark suits and girls in white is pretty amazing.
- Bring your full colour photos to The Pictorium and we will convert them for you FREE OF CHARGE.
