Restore and mount an old photo onto an Acrylic Block
We just completed a lovely photo restoration for a client to present as a birthday gift and thought it would be great to share a few details. The final print is 6X4 inches and is shown to great effect with one of our finely crafted acrylic blocks.
The modernity of these blocks contrasts strongly with our restored photos and creates a stunning piece to grace any room. The acrylic blocks used by The Pictorium are a substantial 15mm in depth giving them a feeling of depth – almost as if it’s 3D in fact.
The above picture shows the restored photo in the acrylic block together with the original.
As can be seen the original photo is only 1.5 inches in width and 2.5 inches in height. As with many old photos it had some discoloration, scratches and creases.
In the next photo below we’ve zoomed right in to let you see some of the wear and tear that had to be restored.
Once we had a high resolution scan of the photo we discovered that there was a good level of detail and decided that even after enlarging the print to 6X4 we would be able to crop in and show a bit more of the gentlemans face. We then set about restoring this photo to it’s former glory!
